While the media circuits paid close attention to the comments on Obamacare during last Thursday’s press conference, many failed to see the preview of events to come that President Obama gave the American people. Despite his “fumbling of the ball” remarks (that sounded like his administration was inspired by Mark Sanchez) the president made a few comments concerning Iran that should leave the American people questioning his abilities as Commander-in-Chief.
First off is the president’s evident lack of knowledge concerning Iran’s economy and how exactly those “severe sanctions” cripple the Iranian people. While severe sanctions on Iran’s oil industry can have a crippling effect, President Obama fails to understand that this is a third-world country set in its ways and run by a theocracy where the people are of no consequence to the government. To quote the CIA fact sheet on Iran from their website:
Iran’s economy is marked by statist policies and an inefficient state sector, which create major distortions throughout the system, and reliance on oil, which provides a large share of government revenues. Price controls, subsidies, and other rigidities weigh down the economy, undermining the potential for private-sector-led growth. Private sector activity is typically limited to small-scale workshops, farming, some manufacturing, and services. Significant informal market activity flourishes and corruption is widespread.
That really awkward moment the president’s statements from a year before prove how ignorant any hope of happy feels with Iran really is…
There should be a way in which they can enjoy peaceful nuclear power while still meeting their international obligations and providing clear assurances to the international community that they’re not pursuing a nuclear weapon.
– President Obama
Just take a listen to an interview CBS did with Iranian President Hasan Rouhani from September this year, where it’s quite clear Iran hasn’t changed its mind and still wants to play nukes with the big boys.
The definition of insanity, anyone?
Finally, it was reported on Sunday night that Obama senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, was personally leading talks with Iran for more than a year. Israel has apparently not been included in these talks which has strained relations between the US and Israel. This after the same reports surfaced over a year ago. Last time, the White House vehemently denied these rumors as false. This time around, they are moving even faster to quench the rumors.
WH Spokesperson B Meehan on Channel 10's report of secret Jarrett-Salehi talks: "those rumors are absolutely 100% false"

That doesn’t mean that the rumors aren’t true. Remember, this is the same White House that said that Secretary of State John Kerry wasn’t out boating while Egypt was burning during a coup d’état even though he was boating. Maybe this time the White House can come forward with the truth, but I doubt it.
