With less than 50 days until election day, we’ve now entered the debating stage of the campaign. Tonight, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will channel all of the energy they have left in besting the other on the national stage. Trump is going to have keep his cool, while Hillary is going to try to throw him off. It is hard to know what to expect from the most unpredictable election years, but one thing we know for sure is that it will be quite a show.

Given the poor choice of candidates, this debate doesn’t leave us with much to root for. But here are a few ways that you can make the best of your debate viewing experience!

1. Host a debate watch party!

Misery loves company, right? Grab a few of friends, whether they be conservatives, liberals, or politically uninformed, and, tune in at 9:00PM EST.  Depending on your time zone, you could order a pizza with a few friends, or even enjoy one of the top ten conservative cocktails while you watch.

2. Invite Conversation!

Just because the fighting on the stage may get dirty, that doesn’t have to ruin your party!  Why not find some ways to talk about the issues that are actually constructive?

Beverly Hallberg over at the Daily Signal has some tips for using the debate to talk about conservatism. Our generation is more than capable of bringing back courteous political discourse; what better time is there to do that than while watching the debate?

3. Live tweet!

I know Snapchat is the social network of this generation, but I’ve always been a Twitter fan. I think it is the best platform for talking about debates. There are snarky jokes, quick policy critiques, and general commentary galore. There’s almost a certain camaraderie to it, and it is a great way to get a general sense of how people are responding to the candidates. The official hashtags for this event are #Debates2016 and #Debates, so definitely check those out for more content.
