Washington insiders constantly tell us that if we cut the federal government’s domestic budget, Armageddon will come to America. But is there really nothing that can be cut? For example, the Inspector General for the Social Security Administration said that the SSA paid $1.111 million to dead people, and the government also made $125 billion in improper payments. With the self-imposed March 31 deadline more attention needs to be given to what is going on with the negotiations related to Iran’s nuclear program. Reports have stated that the deal would limit Iran’s nuclear activity for at least 10 years but, eventually ease restrictions on potential weapon programs. Recently, Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has found herself in the news more often than seems appropriate for a justice of the Supreme Court. Aside from being less than sober at the State of Union Address, she has also recently said there would not be enough women on the court until all nine justices were women. Last week the History Channel ran a three part, six hour, miniseries entitled “Sons of Liberty” the show sometimes took factual departures, but nevertheless it was an entertaining take on the early part of the Revolution.
