“The World’s End,” is easily the best movie I’ve seen all summer. It had witty humour, a layered plot, and complex characters. I enjoyed it from start to finish – almost. By the end I was actually pretty disappointed. While watching this film, you believe it to be no more than a fun comedy, but by the end, you realize that it is a socialist message film – or at least, the end gives you a clear glimpse into the writer/directors mind on the topic of freedom and collectivism. Before I explain further, here’s a quick recap of the...Read More

On May 25th, 2 million people around the world protested against Monsanto (a company whose main products are genetically modified foods), solidified under the name “Occupy Monsanto.” It is rare for both liberals and conservatives to unit under a unifying cause, but this movement as well as the general protest against GMOs have been taken up by conservatives and liberals alike. Much like “Occupy Wall Street,” “Occupy Monsanto” has no clear goal or cause, but from what I can gather the movement’s main concern is for the safety of genetically modified foods for human consumption. Yet they don’t seem to...Read More
A few days ago, Melissa Harris-Perry was featured on one of MSNBC’s “Lean Forward” ads, in which she boldly proclaimed that children belong to their communities rather than their parents. So far, there has yet to be anyone from the right who actually articulates why children do not belong to their communities, why they do in fact belong to their parents, or if they belong to anyone at all. Sure, there have been denunciations of her words as being outright communistic – all of which may be valid – but so what? Glowing Harris-Perry, framed by pink flowers dancing in the...Read More
Matthew Heimbach, a student at Towson University, has been stirring up controversy over the last two years after he formed the White Student Union group at his university. His group is known to plaster “White Power” slogans in chalk on the university grounds and most recently have decided to form a patrol squad in response to what he says is an unresolved problem of black-on-white crime, especially against white females, on Towson University grounds. If blatant racial profiling is what is necessary to keep his campus safe, I’m all for it; but even as I applaud Heimbah’s complete disregard...Read More
“So you conservatives think regulating guns won’t end gun violence, but that regulating abortions will end abortion? Isn’t that hypocritical?” This question can sometimes be asked by liberals when they are told that gun restrictions or gun bans have a negligible and sometimes catalytic effect on gun crime. However cleverly put this question is, it is still very simplistic, and it is also important to realize that it is a red herring fallacy – it is not an actual rebuttal to a conservative’s objection on gun restrictions, but an attempt to distract from the topic altogether, and so far,...Read More
