On Wednesday in Alexandria, VA, a suburb of Washington, D.C., 66 year-old James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, walked onto a baseball field and opened fire. The men on the field were Republican congressmen and staffers. Republican Majority whip, Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, was shot, as were at two GOP staffers and two Capitol Police officers. Hodgkinson died in the hospital after being shot by Capitol Police on the scene. While Scalise was reportedly in critical condition, he and the other victims are expected to recover. We still do not know exactly why Hodgkinson did this. However, we do have a solid possibility: he may have...Read More

On Wednesday, “Crooked Hillary” Clinton participated in the annual “Code” tech conference. During that conference, Mrs. Clinton excused many of her worst mistakes, and complained about the way she was treated during the election. Hillary’s String of Complaints First, she complained about “the way that the use of my email account was turned into the biggest scandal since lord knows when.” Never mind that it wasn’t “turned into” a scandal: it was a scandal, one for which she ought to have faced serious jail time. Hillary also complained about the controversies surrounding her Wall Street speeches as Secretary of State. She claimed that...Read More
Again, a Muslim has shared his peaceful religion with the world; again, innocents are dead, including a dozen children, one a girl aged 8. Again, we see the world rush to explain away the attack as a lone wolf. But not all responses to the latest tragedy are the same. Katy Perry, diva divine, has shared her wisdom with the world on the Elvis Duran Show, saying, ” I think that the greatest thing we could do is just unite and love on each other, and like, no barriers, no borders, like, we all need to just co-exist.” J.K. Rowling chose to emulate one of her novels. In her Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, when Voldemort returns, the powerful Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, pressures the wizard newspaper, The Daily Prophet, to write stories of how Harry lied about Voldemort’s return, thus hiding an uncomfortable truth. Rowling has just done the same. In a tweet after the attack, she went after journalists for trying to uncover the truth behind the attacks. Yes that’s right, J.K. Rowling has become The Daily Prophet, hiding truths to protect the powerful. Rowling has also attacked Laura Ingraham after Ingraham questioned how it was that darkening the Eiffel Tower really changes the situation in Europe. Donald Trump’s response has been far different. Trump, master of the juvenile put downs we all remember, declared...Read More
New Orleans has begun a trend which ought to disturb anyone with a regard for history, whether admirable or not. This city has begun to remove monuments to Confederate figures and to Civil War events. So far, four monuments have been removed by order of the Mayor and the City Council. They include statues of P.G.T. Beauregard, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. The fourth was a monument to an insurrection that took place during Reconstruction. New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu stated that these removals were meant to distance New Orleans from racism in its history: This is not a naive...Read More
We all know the saying, “getting away with murder.” And if you’re someone powerful, like a politician, maybe you can. But what about getting away with rape? Is that possible in today’s world? Progressives would argue no–at least, not if they have anything to say about it. On college campuses across the United States, men are told that they are potential rapists who cannot be trusted. Feminists claim that, when a woman claims to have been sexually assaulted, she should always be believed, no matter what the evidence may say. Europe has a sort of feminism similar to what is in the States. Europe...Read More
