This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Russell Amos Kirk, the godfather of American conservatism. Kirk authored a study titled The Conservative Mind: From Burke to Santayana (later changed to Eliot) in his early 30s. The book set off a storm of now-forgotten chatter: finally, there was an argument for a coherent American conservative tradition. The Old Right, consisting of Albert Jay Nock, Rose Wilder Lane, and John T. Flynn had been folded into something bigger. That starting point would bridge the years of WWII and grow in the 50s into a movement. And at the heart...Read More

Brett Kavanaugh has been approved as the newest Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. But the Left, which cannot stand the thought of losing something like a Supreme Court seat, went all-out to destroy Kavanaugh. Many progressives fought his nomination up to the bitter end. Some are still looking to fight his nomination after-the-fact by trying to impeach him. Why is the Left so determined to destroy this man? Now that this fight is won, we need to look at what happened to try and understand why. The Man of the Hour Kavanaugh has a typical Republican political background. Last Friday, police in the British city of Leeds arrested Tommy Robinson, who is one of the most outspoken critics of Islam in the UK. He vehemently loves freedom and hates to see what Muslim radicals are doing to his country. As if these unpopular views were not enough, Tommy is also working-class, as you can tell if you’ve ever watched one of his videos. The following month, teachers in Arizona did the same. These complaints have now migrated to my home state of Colorado. The complaint these teachers seem to have is that they aren’t paid like their counterparts in New York or California. The Numbers Here’s the data. The average West Virginia teacher makes $45,622, those in Arizona make $47,218, and Colorado teachers make $46,155. Compared with the average salaries of teachers in California and New York, who pull in $77,179 and $79,152 respectively, one...Read More
Jordan B. Peterson, Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto, is a man for our times. Peterson is proving a force to reckoned with. He is erudite, highly articulate, and–importantly–willing to use YouTube to reach audiences who might never otherwise take an interest in his Jungian theories of personality. A Man of Character Dr. Peterson possesses, apart from an obvious knowledge, a sense of human limitations. When asked thorny questions, he readily admits he doesn’t know. In a recent VICE interview, when asked whether men and women can work together, Peterson claimed he didn’t know. When pressed for more, he...Read More
