Holder’s Latest: Spy Tech, or Gun Control?

In their latest attempt to control law-abiding gun owners, the Obama Administration via Attorney General Eric Holder in congressional testimony announced that it wants to try to make gun owners embed devices in their guns that ensure that only the gun’s owner can fire the weapon. While this might seem like a great idea on the surface, lets dig a little deeper and see what it really looks like. For many, this kind of technology is pure science fiction. Many of us have seen the most recent James Bond film Skyfall. In one scene, 007’s gun is turned against...

The Farm Bill: A Ticking Time Bomb

I have written before about the Farm Bill; in summary, it’s the sole piece of legislation that controls Agriculture policy in the U.S., but it also controls Food Stamps and other nutritional programs, mostly run by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Farm Bill normally expires every 5 years. The last one was passed in 2008, and a one-year extension was passed last fall which expires this Monday, Sept 30th. We are approaching a food crisis. The NSA, Privacy, and College Students

By now, we’re all familiar with the NSA PRISM leaks, Edward Snowden, and the rest of the scenario: the government has been accessing phone records for the past several years. If you’re not aware, you live under a rock, and I have no idea why (or how) you’re reading this, but let me help you out. The whole point of this article isn’t to take sides, as I (and most of the rest of us) don’t know the whole story and probably can’t, for a myriad of reasons. Many people believe Snowden is a hero, many believe he is...

The “War On Women”

One of the biggest issues this election has been women’s rights. Obama supporters claim Mitt Romney “hates women” because he doesn’t care about “women’s health” issues. They blast him because Republicans and other groups have been fighting for the right for employers to choose whether or not they should cover things like birth control even when doing so violates their religious beliefs. They claim that this “War on Women” isn’t about religion, but rather, it’s about the ability of women to “access” contraception or abortion using insurance provided by their employer. This video is the most succinct 27 seconds...

Remembering 9/11

As we approach the 11th anniversary of our generation’s greatest tragedy, we all look back to that fateful September day in 2001. We all have vastly different memories, due to our different ages, locations, and connections to those tragic events. I was 10 years old, and all I remember is that I was in fourth grade, and there was an announcement over the intercom in my elementary school that there would be no after-school activities, all students were to go home. My teacher said that there had been a tragedy that had occurred that day and to go home and...
