Rand Paul – Why 20 Trillion Matters

Senator Rand Paul has successfully filibustered the United States Senate and singlehandedly shutdown the government for a few minutes. Readers should note that this shutdown did not last, and the votes necessary to pass the budget have already been considered for the Senate. Congressional staffers and representatives were clearly irritated, and some awful comments circulated media surrounding Paul and his actions. Reports later showed that Bette Midler and others insinuated things about Rand’s neighbor, who brutally assaulted late last year. Where’s Rand Paul’s neighbor when we need him? — Bette Midler (@BetteMidler) February 9, 2018 Why Rand Shut It Down...

FISA Courts – A Constitutional Crisis

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released a memo detailing potential FISA court abuse by high-ranking members of both the DOJ and the FBI. The accusations entail nefarious characters acting with political interests and hijacking the FISA process to ensure that the courts continued the approval for investigation. The memo in its entirety can be found here, and individuals who are quickly jumping to conclusions should follow Reagan’s lead and “Trust, but verify”. This memo will likely be juxtaposed following other releases, including but not limited to the Schiff memo, a potential Senate Judiciary memo, and maybe even...

Venezuela – A Nation Enslaved

Enslavement is a word most frequently used when referencing the early 17th century’s subjugation and complete loss of freedom for actual human beings. In today’s world, slavery still exists through human trafficking and other evils, but it also exists very broadly in places like Venezuela. Venezuela is certainly a place where basic human freedom has disappeared as we’ve seen in recent events. This South American country is one in which our “well-meaning” liberal friends should keep in mind when pushing their politics. We know that the left and the Democratic Party tend push ideas and policies that near the...

No Deal? – The Congressional Stalemate

With hours until a federal government shutdown, congressional leaders have reached a stalemate. Once a shutdown incurs, the US economy will likely react negatively, and many ‘non-essential’ services will begin to close down. Probably one of the more dangerous aspects of a shutdown is that its impacts are progressive: the longer the shutdown lasts, the more money is lost. The Economic Impact Circa 2013 According to Josh Hicks at the Washington Post, the US economy may have lost approximately $24 Billion in economic output during the 2013 shutdown. The national parks lost $450,000.00 a day in revenue and the...

Imperialism – It’s New ‘Progressive’ Form

Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World outlines a world where individual thought and creativity are dead. In the opening chapters, ‘deltas’  or lower castes were shocked every time they saw a book or a flower. In Huxley’s novel, individuals were subject to a drug induced ‘happiness’ and indoctrinated to hate morality instead of experiencing freedom. What progressives are doing in their philanthropic initiatives abroad is no far cry from this dystopia. Modern imperialism is a systematic attack on culture, history, and identity. Progressives in Academia commonly educate on the vile acts of imperial colonists, and we are frequently told that the world...
