Saturday morning at CPAC, taking place in National Harbor, Maryland, Robert Davi, an actor and musician spoke on illegal immigration and his own family of legal immigrants from Sicily. However, about half way through, it flipped to something familiar to the media now, the condemnation of the media, dubbing it once again ‘fake news’, a term coined by President Trump and used rather often to describe liberal leaning mainstream media outlets, such as CNN and NBC. President Trump also used 20 minutes of his Friday morning speech to condemn the media once again, seemingly a popular theme at this...Read More

On Friday at CPAC in National Harbor, Maryland, former 2016 presidential candidate Carly Fiorina spoke to a packed crowd. During her conversation with Arthur Brooks, the classy Fiorina spoke eloquently on the Republican win, where to go from here, and resistance. In the interview, Fiorina said that “Substantial change inspires substantial resistance.” This statement was made in regards to the Republican Party’s 2016 election win and the visceral reaction of the left. From organized protests, such as Linda Sarsour’s women’s march to AntiFa’s violent rioting at UC Berkeley, the Left has taken to the streets to express its distaste for...Read More
Yesterday morning, President Donald J. Trump spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Maryland. During his nearly hour-long speech, he addressed many conservative hot-button issues, such as the Second Amendment and media bias. He also talked about illegal immigration and the proposed Mexican-American border wall, an idea he popularized during his campaign. The border wall, like the so-called “Muslim Ban,” has been decried as “racist” and “hateful” by liberal media outlets. It’s as if there are no benefits to having tighter controls on immigration, legal or illegal. Why shouldn’t we secure our borders against people who live in nations that are terrorist...Read More
Thursday afternoon at CPAC, Mercedes Schlapp held a panel on socialism and millennials. This panel, aptly titled ‘Freedom or Free Stuff?’ included Representative Ron Desantis, Dr. Greg Dolin, an ACU senior fellow, and Ana Quintana of the Heritage Foundation. The topic discussed was the millennial love affair with Senator Bernie Sanders, a 2016 Presidential candidate who lost to Secretary Hillary Clinton in the democratic primary. Over 80% of people under 30, commonly referred to as millennials, voted for Bernie Sanders. There was an attraction to the idea of free college, healthcare for all, and complete and total equality. Naturally, these ideas...Read More
Political belief systems based on the superiority of one person over another are based on falsehoods, hatred, and lies. Such falsehoods have been championed through hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the Black Panther party. Now, they are also championed by the alt-right. As Richard Spencer walked into CPAC on Thursday, he brought this false, un-American narrative with him. It was made clear in a panel on the state of conservatism at CPAC 2017 that fascism, racism, and hatred are not at all welcome at CPAC. Sabrina Schaeffer of the Independent Women’s Forum spoke on the importance of identity. By praising being...Read More
